Award-nominated by his students
Ruperto was born in Chile in 1961, started learning English at age five and has loved languages ever since. His interest in learning ancient languages began when he started learning Latin and Ancient Greek at the Universidad de Chile. This continued when he migrated to Australia in 1987. In the early 1990's, he was accepted at the University of Western Australia to study Classics and Ancient History. This course nurtured his love of English, as well as these ancient languages. Ruperto continued on at UWA to earn an Honours degree in Greek Tragedy.
Whilst studying Ruperto also taught language. He has a passion for sharing his interest in languages through teaching others. After honours, he put this on a more formal footing when he completed the Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Western Australia, majoring in teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), with a minor in Languages Other Than English (LOTE). Following this Ruperto was invited to teach Latin at the University of Western Australia. For this his students nominated him two years running for an Excellence in Teaching Award!
